My Review:

WHY did I read this book right before my reread of ACOTAR??!! I just want to start the sequel, The Mime Order! This Book was SO GOOD!!

I heard a lot of things about the beginning being a bit of an information dump which was a turn off for some people, but I didn’t find that to be the case at all! The world building was very complex, but I followed it easily enough, especially with the help of the clairvoyance chart, the map of Sheol I and the glossary in the back. The world Shannon created was clearly well thought out and intricately planned, and I enjoyed every second of being in it!

Paige was such a great main character to follow. I loved her sarcasm and attitude, and that she has a powerful gift but still makes mistakes when trying to control it. It was interesting to watch her learn and to learn about dreamscapes and the æther in the process – both of which are fairly unique concepts to read about in this genre. I admired the compassion and spirit she had despite having such a high position in the criminal underworld, the syndicate.  I’m also eager to see where her new realizations about herself as a person lead her in The Mime Order.

Warden was an interesting character as well. I was constantly curious about this Rephaite who seemed to be compassionate and even caring, despite what the rest of the Rephaite were. I hope in the next book we get to learn more about him and the past he has hidden so well.

This book wasn’t romance heavy, but when the romance did occur I was a little surprised at the suddenness of it. Not that I’m complaining, because it made me very happy, but I just didn’t expect it to happen when it did.

All in all, I absolutely loved this book and I’d definitely recommend it to everyone!
